Bareback riding is perhaps more demanding of a cowboys physical strength than any other event in rodeo. Gripping on to a small piece of raw hide between his fingers and palm, in what is called a rigging, a bareback rider must hold on continuously while moving his feet in rhythm with the horses jumps to complete the necessary 8 second ride. Tying your wrist to a 500 pound rock and dropping it 10 times in eight seconds is comparable to the agony that a bareback rider withstands each and every time he makes a ride. It may not be as exciting as bull riding, but it is definitely a crowd pleaser when the best horse in the heard matches up with the best cowboy on the tour. Our sculpture is meant to showcase the two, the best of the best, both animal and rider. Click the thumbnails to the right to view a larger photo of each bareback rider. The item number is listed below each rider. Please have item number ready when placing an order. |
