Our goal is to
immortalize the true athletic spirit of the rodeo bull rider and the
grace and agility of the bull. The goal of the bull rider is
to try to remain seated for eight seconds. Bull riding has
been the draw card for professional rodeos since it began. When
the chute gate opens, spectators are at the edge of their seats.
The idea of watching a cowboy weighing sometimes less than 120 pounds on
the back of an animal 20 times his size is unpredictably exciting.
The danger and the formula for disaster is always present in the mind of
the bull rider and the audience. To control the bulls jumps and
turns is totally impossible, but bull riders must always be in control
mentally. With complete concentration plus his athletic ability,
the physical strength of the bull can be conquered for a short moment in
time -- known as 8 seconds. As a spectator looking at these bronze
sculptures below, you can decide what came next. PRBA ltd.
dedicates all of these sculptures to bull riders, their great teachers,
and the superb animals making the sport what it is today.
