Rick Young of Tickfaw, Louisiana started his rodeo career as a clown and bullfighter in 1959. His natural humor, speed and agility plus his dynamic personality propelled him to the top of his profession. In the early years, Rick was known as the 'Ragin Cajun'. Now at the age of 66, yet still very active as a clown and barrel man, Rick claims to be the 'Aging Cajun'. In the past 41 years, Rick has worked many of the major rodeos throughout the U.S. and Canada such as Ft. Worth Texas, The Calgary Stampede, Sikeston Missouri, The Old Timers Finals, The Dodge National Circuit Finals, Coors Shootout Showdown, the NFR-1974, The Texas Circuit Finals, The Southeastern Circuit Finals, The Great Lakes Circuit Finals, and The Indian National Finals. Rick was named 'Clown of the Year' in 1980 and Coors 'Man in the Can' in 1991, 1994, 1996, and 1997. When not working rodeos, Rick and his wife Bernie Lee carry on a 50 year old business of breeding and marketing top quality Appaloosa Horses.
